Business Development Manager – Renewable Energy & Infrastructure

About the Company

Our client is a globally active Chinese infrastructure investor and operator, with a strategic focus on accelerating renewable energy development in emerging markets. With a growing portfolio across Africa, the company is committed to enabling sustainable infrastructure growth in the region, with Ivory Coast as a key hub for West African expansion.

As part of its regional strategy, the firm is now seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to support project origination, partnership development, and market expansion activities across the renewable energy sector.

Role Overview

The Business Development Manager will lead commercial activities in Ivory Coast and the surrounding region, identifying new opportunities for renewable energy investment and development. This role is ideal for a commercially minded individual with a strong network in African energy markets and a solid understanding of solar, wind, and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with both local stakeholders and international headquarters to convert pipeline opportunities into bankable projects.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and originate renewable energy and infrastructure project opportunities across Ivory Coast and West Africa

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, regulators, project partners, and developers

Lead the preparation and submission of commercial proposals, bids, and tenders for utility-scale and distributed generation projects

Conduct market research and provide strategic input on market trends, policy developments, and competitor activities

Collaborate with technical and financial teams to develop investment proposals and structure joint ventures or partnerships

Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings

Support the development of long-term market strategies and project pipelines aligned with company objectives

Candidate Requirements

Proven experience in business development, project origination, or sales within the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors in Africa

Strong knowledge of the energy landscape in West Africa, including regulatory frameworks and procurement models

Experience in solar PV, wind, or hybrid systems is highly desirable

A track record of successfully developing partnerships or winning projects in emerging markets

Commercially astute with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Fluent in English and French is essential; Mandarin is an advantage

Based in Ivory Coast or open to relocation
